The mysterious death of a Massachusetts man whose body turned up in the backstreets of Washington, D.C. has local law enforcement scratching their heads. The deceased, identified as Quincy native Alan Chi Chen, age 41, was found abandoned in an isolated alley, fueling an active "death investigation" by the Metropolitan Police Department in the District of Columbia, according to Boston 25 News.
An eagle-eyed individual observed through his personal surveillance system what appeared to be the chilling scene of a body being unceremoniously discarded from a vehicle late on November 29, according to a police report. The video surveillance, which captured the incident sometime after 11 p.m., suggests that was also the date of Chen's demise. Responding officers discovered Chen, devoid of life, clad in blue jeans and black shoes, and in possession of a lip balm—an ordinary item made extraordinary by the grim context of its finding.
As CBS Boston and MassLive report, respectively, an autopsy is in progress, and authorities press on for answers in that case.
