Boston's Mayor Michelle Wu is boosting her administration with new appointees, announcing Chris Breen as the Deputy Director of the Office of Neighborhood Services and Cecily Graham as the Hyde Park Liaison. According to the city's official announcement, the neighborhood-fortifying duo brings a combination of grassroots experience and policy know-how to their new roles.
Wu, in a move signaling her commitment to tighten city services' bond with Bostonians, spoke highly of her new team. "I'm thrilled to welcome Chris and Cecily to our Office of Neighborhood Services," Wu said, "Each has dedicated years of service to the City, and our residents, and we're grateful for their leadership and love for Boston." Her sentiment was echoed by Brianna Millor, Community Engagement Cabinet Chief, who backed Breen's "history with the City of Boston" and Graham's knack for policy and community organizing.
Breen, a Boston native and UMass Boston grad, has already devoted 18 years to serving the city, in roles that span from teaching at the Eliot K-8 Innovation School to tackling urban renewal. Now as Deputy Director, he's tasked with enriching the ONS's essential service provision and strengthening ties with local entities.
Similarly, Graham is primed to take on her liaison role with a resume that speaks to her dedication to Boston. "Cecily's background in public policy, research, and community organization makes her ideal to lead in her role as the Hyde Park liaison," Millor affirmed. Graham's roots in the city run deep, as a Boston Public Schools alum and a long-time Hyde Park resident, her personal investment in the area is indisputable.
As they step into their new positions, Breen and Graham are poised to serve as crucial conduits between Boston's diverse neighborhoods and the City Hall's suite of resources and services. Both officials' appointments are part of a broader effort to ensure equitable access to city support for all Boston neighborhoods.
