A routine landscaping job in Northwest Miami-Dade turned violent Friday when a dispute over leaf-blowing ended with one man shot and hospitalized. The altercation unfolded on the 1500 block of Northwest 79th Street when a landscaper, working across from P&P Auto Tire Shop, blew leaves onto the business's property, NBC Miami reported.
An argument between the landscape worker and the tire shop employee escalated, resulting in the employee discharging a firearm and striking the landscaper. The injured man was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition, according to the police. Police detained a suspect for questioning, while the area of Northwest 79th Street and 15th Avenue grappled with the aftermath of the violence.
A witness on the scene recounted hearing two gunshots before seeing the victim collapse to the ground with a leg wound. Cellphone footage captured by onlookers shows the injured man lying in the road.
Meanwhile, the Miami-Dade Police Department has led the investigation, with one person currently in custody. "Police said the employee pulled out a gun and shot him," WSVN reported. Further details surrounding the motives and circumstances of the dispute that led to the shooting are yet to be clarified as the investigation continues.
As the community seeks answers, the identity of both the victim and the detained suspect has not been publicly released. Updates are expected as the authorities delve deeper into the incident.
