A horrific discovery was made in the West Kendall neighborhood of southwest Miami-Dade on Tuesday, when a man’s body, was found in a garbage bin. According to NBC Miami, the body was spotted by a solid waste worker during a routine pickup, causing a stir in the otherwise quiet community.
The scene unfolded around the 8400 block of Southwest 161st Place, where the garbage truck driver saw the body tumble into the vehicle and promptly dialed 911. Local law enforcement arrived on the scene and confirmed the presence of a deceased male with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. "The way the body ended up in this trash bin is something that our investigators are working to find out, that’s a question that we’d all like the answer to," Miami-Dade Police Det. Andre Martin told NBC Miami.
Homicide detectives from the Miami-Dade Police Department are currently investigating the matter. While initial thoughts from the authorities suggest the man might have taken his own life, police, were unable to confirm if the victim resided at the property where the bin was serviced. According to Local 10, the last trash collection in the area occurred on Friday, and detectives are working diligently to pinpoint the time of death.
Details surrounding the disturbing event remain scarce. No further information about the victim has been released, and while no arrests have been made, it remains unclear whether a weapon was also discovered at the scene.
