A Miami grandmother is behind bars after she allegedly sent a threatening text message to her ex-husband. The text, reading "Te voy a matar hijo de perra," which translates to "I am going to kill you, son of a b____," landed 70-year-old Guadalupe Gandara into charges, and law enforcement took the threat seriously. The pointed words, as reported by Local 10, were enough for police officers to handcuff Gandara at her home in the Pinewood neighborhood at around 3:50 p.m. on Tuesday.
Following the arrest, Gandara was booked early on Wednesday at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. A Miami-Dade County judge has since issued an order for Gandara to completely stay away from her ex-husband, who resides in Miami's Liberty City and has accused her of not only making threats but also stealing from his business. Gandara finds herself now facing a felony charge for her written threats, with a bond set at $5,000, court records detail.
Miami-Dade prosecutors moved rapidly to file charges against Gandara on Wednesday. According to Local 10, if Gandara is found guilty of the charge of written threats to kill or cause bodily injury, she could be looking at up to 15 years behind bars.
Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Laura Stuzin is slated to preside over the upcoming proceedings.
