The holidays brought unforeseen tragedy to the Little River neighborhood of Miami, as a teenager's life was cut short just days before Christmas following a fatal shooting. NBC Miami reports that the Miami Police found 18-year-old Antwan Hampton suffering from gunshot wounds on the night of December 20, mere weeks before his 19th birthday.
Shot Spotter, which is a technology designed to detect gunshot locations, alerted the authorities to the scene at approximately 9 p.m. where they discovered Hampton on the front lawn of a residence located at 6847 NW 2 Court, soon after he was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital's Ryder Trauma Center where his battle for life ceased and he succumbed to the injuries two hours later, according to a statement obtained by Local 10 News.
In an earnest plea for public assistance, the Miami Police Department released a video showcasing three males they have identified as 'persons of interest' connected to the case. Details reveal one of the individuals donned a black RLG hooded sweater with dark pants and black and white sneakers, another cloaked in a black long-sleeve shirt, light jeans, black socks, and black sandals and the third garbed in a red hooded sweater, black and white sweatpants, white socks, and black sandals. The authorities urge anyone with relevant information to step forward, with a $5,000 reward being offered for details leading to an arrest.
While detectives remain on the hunt for leads, the Miami Police have yet to disclose specific motives or the circumstances leading to Hampton's tragic end in the Miami neighborhood, however they ask any potential witnesses or individuals with knowledge pertinent to this case to contact 305-603-6350 or Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-4877, Officer Michael Vega, a spokesman for MPD, told Local 10 News in a recent interview.
