The Miami community is on high alert as authorities issued a Missing Child Alert for a local 2-year-old girl. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is now pleading with the public to aid in locating Ava Gantt, who vanished from Miami-Dade County.
According to CBS News Miami, the toddler was last observed around the vicinity of SW 80th Street and 157th Place. Standing three feet tall and weighing 31 pounds, with brown hair and eyes, Ava's absence has sparked a countywide search. Adding to concerns, officials believe she may be in the company of 22-year-old Dante Torres, a man characterized by an orange t-shirt and blue jeans, and distinguished by a full-sleeve tattoo on his right arm.
The police are cautioning residents to be on the lookout for a 2017 silver Nissan Sentra, with the Florida tag number NRJC05. NBC Miami reports that this is the vehicle believed to transport Ava and Torres.
Potential sightings or any information that may contribute to the swift resolution of this nerve-stretching ordeal should be immediately reported by calling 911. However, detectives are urging the public to exercise caution, asking them to avoid approaching the subjects if located, possibly compromising Ava's safety and the ongoing investigation.
