An act of arson shocked the small city of Sabinal when a Molotov cocktail was flung through a window at Sabinal City Hall on Friday. The homemade incendiary, jarringly composed of a pickle jar, was hurled into the clerk's office, officials confirmed.
The office, which houses not only administrative functions but also the municipal judge's chambers and the local police, was empty at the time of the attack, with the vile device hitting a chair, scorching a swath of the floor before it snuffed itself out. A clerk arriving at around 2 p.m. was greeted by the sting of smoke in the air, according to KSAT.
Police Chief Jesus "Chuy" Reyes, leading the investigation, said they are, "reviewing video cameras to try to determine who is responsible" for the attack that caused no injuries but singed some office equipment, as per detailed to KSAT. His remarks included an account of the fire marshals currently investigating the incident.
Reyes, who was dispatched to the scene just before the smoke was reported by the clerk, is awaiting to lay eyes on the video footage that might illuminate the events leading up to this brazen afternoon blaze, as per Fox San Antonio.
