
A deadly encounter between a motorcycle and an SUV has left one man dead as the Houston police delve into the details of the crash that occurred early yesterday morning. According to the City of Houston's official news release, the collision took place at approximately 6:55 a.m. at 11700 Homestead Road, when a blue Harley-Davidson motorcycle was struck by a turning silver Kia Sportage.
The motorcyclist, a 38-year-old man whose name has yet to be released, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. The tragedy unfolded as he rode southbound and entered the intersection on a green light, while the Kia, driven by a 42-year-old woman, was making a left turn with a yield arrow from northbound Homestead Road onto East Mount Houston Road.
As reported by the Houston Police Department's Vehicular Crimes Division, Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho are leading the inquiry. The aftermath of the crash didn't yield immediate charges as the female driver of the Kia was questioned by authorities but subsequently released, pending the results of the ongoing investigation.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is tasked with the identification of the deceased.
