A Brookline High School student experienced a tragic accident after consuming illegal "magic mushrooms," leading to a fall from a sixth-story window, as reported by Boston 25 News. The incident is linked to a suspect known as "Niko," accused of dealing drugs, particularly targeting the town's youth.
The investigation into "Niko" unveiled his focus on peddling to underage teens. Affected by the mushrooms, the student involved in the incident sustained severe injuries. The Brookline Police Department highlighted that "many of these items have found their way onto the campus of Brookline High School," where they have been linked to purchases from the suspect, as stated in the department's announcement in their official Facebook page.
Police arrested the 22-year-old man in connection with the case. "Niko" has allegedly bought products from local marijuana dispensaries and repurposed them for a younger, illegal market. Patch reported that "many kids (are) unwitting victims of his harmful chemicals and toxins." The suspect reportedly had numerous teen customers, though the exact number over the past years remains unclear.
The police are urging parents to be vigilant, issuing a warning for potential indicators of drug use. Items that could be mistaken for candy or innocuous trinkets in a teen's possessions should not be dismissed. "If you see some of these items in your teen's room, don't dismiss them as typical harmless pocket junk. Pay attention, and protect your kids from harmful substances," the department emphasized in a video posted in their Official Facebook page.
Investigations are ongoing as the community and authorities work to comprehend the extent of "Niko’s" influence in the area and the impact on the youth of Brookline.
