The Napa Police Department and Napa County Sheriff's Office responded to calls of possible criminal activity in the area of Montgomery/Pine. Napa PD issued a community alert urging the public to avoid a section of Montgomery Street—stretching between Laurel and Stockton streets—while officers and deputies worked the scene, according to a Facebook post from the department. The unfolding situation was brought to a close after three individuals were taken into custody with no further threat to community safety, the Napa Police Department confirmed.
Napa PD had initially been alerted to a verbal dispute and subsequent sounds of gunfire, as described in a statement on social media. Two separate calls came around 10:30 a.m. from people alleging they heard three shots fired, sparking the police action. In a spectacle of force, Napa Police officers and SWAT arrived at a white stucco house on the 500 block of Montgomery Street, with armored Napa County Sheriff's BearCat vehicles repositioning outside the residence, according to the department's Facebook page.
The standoff intensified when using a mobile public address system, officers repeatedly issued commands in English and Spanish throughout the early afternoon. "This is the Napa County Sheriff's Office. Please come out with your hands up, or force will be used against you. Please pick up your phone and call 911 so that we can speak with you," blared the amplified warning, as was reported by the Napa Valley Register. An individual, later identified as Colleen, was even personally addressed in an attempt to coax her and others out safely.
By around 3:23 p.m., the event reached its resolution with the arrest of two men and a woman, as confirmed by local authorities. One man taken into custody was barefoot and appeared to be bleeding slightly from the head, the Napa Valley Register reported. Throughout the ordeal, the Napa PD expressed gratitude for the community's cooperation and patience.
