Rosemont has officially spiced up its dining scene with a fresh take on fast food, welcoming a new Portillo’s restaurant that ditches the usual dine-in experience for a streamlined, to-go format. Opening its doors on Tuesday, this brand new Portillo's located at 10290 W. Higgins Road joins its sibling in Joliet as the only pickup-exclusive spot in the well-loved chain, as NBC Chicago reported.
The hustle for a quick bite seems to just get quicker with this 48th Illinois location, skipping the sit-down atmosphere Portillo's is known for. Ensuring customers have to hardly wait around, the Rosemont spot serves up its famous Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, and decadent chocolate cake with gusto. A ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. commenced the operation of the 82nd store in the franchise, swiftly followed by the revving engines of patrons eager to grab their meals on the go.
Rosemont's Portillo's stands at the bustling intersection of Mannheim and Higgins roads, embracing a nimble corner previously burdened by underdevelopment. Streaming with convenience, this site sports a diminutive lobby for the pickup of online and app-based orders, complemented by a duo of drive-through lanes efficiently wrapping around the building. As Chicago Sun-Times coverage detailed, Mayor Brad Stephens and the chain's VP of restaurant support, Michael Portillo, spearheaded the opening, shearing the ribbon and sparking the commencement of the daily lunch rush.
While the Rosemont outlet delves into its burgeoning operations, customers will notice the absence of the larger, more traditional dining facilities. This quick-service approach is somewhat reminiscent of yet distinctly different from, the original Portillo's—a humble 6-by-12-foot trailer in Villa Park. Today's iteration still promises the full spectrum of Portillo's culinary delights, yet they neatly fit into the pace of modern life as hungry guests seamlessly dart through to scoop up their orders.
