A tragic unfolding marred the San Antonio area during the early hours of the holiday weekend. In two distinct crashes within less than an hour apart, one pedestrian lost their life and another was critically injured following vehicle-related incidents.
The first accident occurred around 6 p.m. on the 2700 block of S. Zarzamora St. A pedestrian, clad in dark attire and crossing mid-street, was hit by a silver Jeep. The driver stopped and dialed 911, but despite the swift arrival of emergency services, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, MySanAntonio.com reported. The identity of the deceased has not been confirmed, and officials have indicated no criminal charges in this incident.
The evening's second incident happened close to 6:50 p.m. on the I-10 access road near Ramsgate, where a crash took an even more alarming turn. Following a collision with a highway railing, a white vehicle's three passengers fled the vehicle. While two navigated their escape across the road unharmed, the third, described only as a "young man" by authorities, met an ill fate under the wheels of a northbound truck. The truck driver provided aid and the injured was rushed to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Details on the third person's identity and the whereabouts of the other two involved in the I-10 incident have yet to emerge. Police are actively investigating both events, seeking answers to the full circumstances surrounding these calamities, KSAT.com noted.
