Early Saturday morning, a fatal shooting at a Cicero gas station claimed the life of one man and left another critically injured. As reported by CBS Chicago, the gunfire erupted at approximately 3:30 a.m. at the Shell station situated at the junction of Roosevelt and Central.
Authorities were summoned to the scene following reports of a disturbance. Upon their arrival, two men were discovered with gunshot wounds. A 23-year-old was transported to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and a 28-year-old remains in critical condition. Cicero Police Department has deemed the incident isolated, suggesting no imminent threat to the surrounding community.
The WLS-TV account further detailed that the confrontation started with a verbal dispute which quickly escalated. "Upon arrival, our officer located two gunshot victims that were immediately transported to Mt. Sinai hospital," recounted Cicero Police Department First Deputy Superintendent Luis Gutierrez First. "At that scene, one person was declared deceased, a 23-year-old male, and a second is in critical but stable condition, he's a 28-year-old male."
Despite the early hours when the shooting took place, the investigation is active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as of yet, and Cicero detectives are diligently working the case to uncover the circumstances that led to this violent, criminal act.
