Narcotics detectives raided a suspected fentanyl dealer in Oxnard, shedding light on the ongoing opioid crisis in Ventura County. According to a press release from the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, Jesus Vazquez-Zepeda, 30, found himself in handcuffs after attempting to dodge the law last Wednesday.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Narcotics Street Team had been diligently shadowing Vazquez-Zepeda for months, unraveling his illicit tapestry of fentanyl distribution, a drug insidiously weaving its way through the veins of Oxnard. The suspect was flagged not just for illegal drug sales but also for a felony Ventura County warrant for burglary. During the search of his East Pleasant Valley Road residence, detectives discovered a veritable treasure trove of narcotics: over six ounces of fentanyl, ten ounces of methamphetamine, an ounce of cocaine, weapons including brass knuckles, and a substantial pile of cash believed to be the proceeds of his shadow economy, the Sheriff’s Office stated.
For his alleged crimes against the county, Vazquez-Zepeda was booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility, staring down the barrel of various felony narcotics and weapon charges. His temporary reprieve comes in the form of a $150,000 bail, with a court date etched on Friday, December 1, as mentioned in the news release. Ventura County Crime Stoppers are also dangling a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and criminal complaint of those responsible for this crime.
