A tragic blaze claimed the life of a Paulding County mother, with an electrical kitchen fire devastating her Dallas home earlier this month. The 46-year-old woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was found unconscious in an upstairs bedroom by firefighting crews after a desperate rescue attempt by her teenage son and local authorities, as reported by Atlanta News First.
On the afternoon of December 12, her son returned from school to find the house engulfed in smoke and heat, immediately reaching out to 911 in a panic-stricken effort to save his mother, yet the ferocity of the fire forced him out before deputies, donning respirator masks, managed to extinguish the kitchen flames which had already soared through the home; however they could not access the second floor where the fire had cornered the woman, this according to further details from 11Alive.
Despite arriving swiftly at the scene on Heritage Way, Paulding County Fire & Rescue and the Sheriff's deputies were met with a grim scenario. The rescue team's efforts to revive the victim were in vain, as she was later pronounced dead at Wellstar Paulding Medical Center. The somber incident has cast a pall over the community, particularly during the holiday season.
Paulding County Fire Chief Joey Pelfrey, in a response imbued with both professionalism and sorrow, remarked, "We are very sad for the loss of life that occurred at this house fire," noting the heightened sense of loss amid the Christmas season, but also expressed pride in the steadfast bravery displayed by the emergency responders, "Despite the terrible outcome, I’m proud of the professional public safety personnel here in Paulding County who regularly risk their lives to save others," Pelfrey told 11Alive.
Investigators pinpointed the cause of the deadly conflagration to an electrical issue in the kitchen, the effects of which proved too severe for even the combined efforts of deputies and firefighters to counteract.
