Petaluma's Macmahan Way residents were woken up to unpleasant news this Monday as a local house fell victim to a burglary. The Petaluma Police Department reported that officers were dispatched to the 800 block following a resident's call at roughly 6:35 a.m., on December 18, after the homeowner came back to a jarring scene. Thieves had forced their way through a rear door, ransacked the property, and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuables.
The homeowner, upon arrival, found his house in disarray and wasted no time in calling the authorities. The police responded promptly, finding that the culprits had fled the scene. According to a release by the Petaluma Police Department, the criminals managed to evade immediate capture after searching for loot.
However, the investigation took a positive turn as Petaluma officials were able to harvest fingerprint evidence within the residence. Neighbor's video surveillance footage was obtained, potentially offering a glimpse of the perpetrators or their method of operation. No suspects have been named, but law enforcement remains optimistic about the leads.
Lt. Matthew Parnow of the Petaluma Police Department has urged the community to be alert and report suspicious activity. "If they see something in their neighborhoods that appears suspicious, we encourage them to call the police," he stated. Anyone with information about the burglary can contact the department directly. For media inquiries, Lt. Parnow can be reached at [email protected], or at the phone number 707-778-4372.
