
As the holiday season reaches its crescendo, the Amazon fulfillment center in Pflugerville is operating at a frenetic pace. Shalini Sharma, the site's leader, stated, "Our volume goes up by two times." With a regular shipping volume of around 40,000 packages a day, the current flow has surged to between 50,000 and 55,000 packages due to the holiday rush. reported by KXAN.
However, it's not just the increased demand during the festive season that's noteworthy. The center which typically handles 600,000 items, is a showcase of advanced logistics, powered by an orchestra of automation and 400 staff. "There is a tremendous amount of technology in this building," Adam Baker, VP of Global Transportation Services for Amazon said, according to CBS Austin,
Among the most popular items in the warehouse are air pods and Amazon Fire TV Sticks, alongside essentials like household cleaners and water. These items, according to Baker, are "very much in demand." The site's robots, a fleet that contributes to Amazon's global tally of 750,000, ensure these products reach consumers expediently. "We now have 750,000 robots worldwide, just like the ones you see down there on the floor," Baker told CBS Austin.
