A grim discovery in Plano on Wednesday night led police to an active homicide investigation after a 43-year-old man was found shot in the head lying in the middle of the street, later dying from his injuries at the hospital, as reported by FOX 4 News.

The victim, identified as Mohamadou Thera, was discovered by a driver around 10:30 p.m. near the intersection of P Avenue and Sherwood Drive, when the police were promptly notified, the incident took place in a residential area close to Jupiter and Parker roads, and neighbors are left in shock, as per WFAA.

According to neighbor Maria Castaneda, who has lived in the Village Creek neighborhood for over 25 years, the sound of a single gunshot was followed by the noise of a car speeding away, she told WFAA, saying, "I heard the one shot. I was watching the news. When I looked out of my window I did not see anything", as quoted by WFAA.

The following day, Plano Police arrested 21-year-old Jaheim Kemp, a local of Plano, in connection with Thera's fatal shooting, with the department citing that Kemp will face a murder charge. While an arrest has been made, the Plano PD is continuing its investigation and is calling on anyone who might possess additional information to step forward. The department said the shooting is still under investigation and is asking anyone with additional information to call the Crimes Against Persons tip line at 972-941-2148.
