Community voices have spurred action in Poway, where two new pathway projects at local parks have just reached completion. In an effort to enhance public spaces, Poway has added a new walkway at Community Park and closed the loop at Starridge Park with a fresh trail.
Revealed by a Poway city announcement, the additions come after locals aired their need for better park pathways. Connecting the skate park to the tennis courts, Community Park's latest stretch links the chain to complete its perimeter circuit. Starridge Park, often abuzz with visitors, has seen its path extend around a ball field, a move initiated by neighborly suggestions.
The city took these suggestions seriously, with work at Community Park stemming from points made in the 2021 Community Park needs assessment. Now, residents can enjoy a fully rounded stroll. As for Starridge Park, residents can take a full loop without a dead end, thanks to a pathway extension prompted by the community's input.
"There are tangible benefits when city officials really listen," noted one local, praising the project outlined in a City of Poway alert. With the completion of these projects, Poway's commitment to fostering spaces that echo the desires of its population is clear.
