Dimitri Roger, the rapper better known as Rich the Kid, found himself behind bars early Monday after a verbal spar with Miami Beach police officers during an ongoing bomb threat investigation. According to an arrest affidavit, officers had secured the area around 17th Street and Collins Avenue, setting up a perimeter to safeguard the public when the 31-year-old musician attempted to breach the restricted zone.
As reported by NBC Miami, Rich the Kid, after being warned by the authorities that entering the cordoned-off area could lead to arrest, retorted confidently, "I'll bond out in 20 minutes," and proceeded to walk away. Subsequently witnessed heading towards the back of his hotel, Roger disregarded security personnel's warnings, telling them "stop me" before leaping over the barrier and invading the off-limits property.
Despite being ordered to vacate the premises by law enforcement, he lingered in the driveway until officers put him under arrest, as detailed in an arrest affidavit released by the authorities. CBS Miami disclosed that Roger now faces charges including trespassing after receiving a warning and resisting arrest without violence.
Rich the Kid's alleged defiance appeared to escalate when he joined the property through the rear, according to police, at a time when a K9 sweep was in progress. Accused of trespassing and evidently unperturbed by the gravity of the situation unfolding on Miami Beach—or the potential legal repercussions of his actions—Rich the Kid remained at the site until law enforcement intervened and detained him.
The rapper, whose legal name is Dimitri Roger, was transported to the Miami Beach Police Headquarters for further processing. He is expected to appear in bond court following the episode that disrupted the police response to a serious public safety threat.
