A Rhode Island man was nabbed for a pointed robbery at a Massachusetts liquor store, where he allegedly made off with cash, alcohol, and cigarettes, authorities said. Gary Tallo, 32, from Johnston, is facing a slew of charges, including armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, and resisting arrest, after the late-night heist at Winn's Liquors in Seekonk, reported NBC Boston.
Police say the suspect, donning a black hoodie, pulled a knife on the store clerk, assaulted them and swiped an undisclosed sum along with booze and smoke around 10:20 p.m. On Wednesday, the first cop arriving on the scene spotted Tallo taking off on foot and with that officer in hot pursuit, they managed to corner the suspect in the yard of a nearby abode, as WHDH reports. With a knife still in hand, Tallo was ordered to drop his weapon and was subsequently arrested without further drama as stolen goods were found right where he was apprehended.
According to The Sun Chronicle, Tallo pleaded innocent to all charges during his arraignment in Taunton District Court and now awaits a December 20 dangerousness hearing, held without bail. Witnesses allege the suspect brandished the blade close to an employee's head and neck before roughing them up and making off with the loot.
The case has drawn more heat given the suspect's existing record—he was already wanted on an outstanding warrant, according to authorities, making this latest alleged episode in his saga fields that much heavier on the scales of justice.
