A woman has been indicted in the fatal road rage confrontation that ended in gunfire on San Antonio's far West Side, sources report. 23-year-old Kasey Garcia faces a murder charge for the shooting death of Vanessa Martinez, 26, who was killed near the gas station intersection of NW Loop 410 and Highway 151 on May 21.
Details from the San Antonio Police Department, as shared by KSAT, indicate that the incident escalated when Garcia followed Martinez to obtain her license plate after a vehicular collision at another location. According to the police, an altercation unfolded when Martinez approached and entered Garcia's car. Garcia, still seated in her vehicle, fired the gun, striking Martinez in the chest.
At the scene, officers found Martinez by the gas pumps with a gunshot wound. Despite her immediate transport to University Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries. That same night, Garcia was apprehended by San Antonio police.
In the wake of the tragedy, Martinez's family is struggling to cope with their heartbreak, particularly when faced with Vanessa’s young children's confusion and grief over their mother's absence. “Everybody is just devastated,” Mary Alice Martinez, Vanessa's mother, expressed in a heart-wrenching interview with KSAT.
