Snow in Texas? You bet. Round Rock's CHASCO Family YMCA turned into a veritable winter wonderland this past Saturday with an event dubbed Christmas Dreams and Snowy Things. The community gathered for a festive celebration that brought a cool holiday cheer to the usually warm environment, CBS Austin reports.
Presented by the Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships, the YMCA saw thousands of pounds of snow—100,000 to be exact—blanket the grounds. Kids and families reveled in a plethora of holiday-themed activities, from joyful games to food and music. Interactive booths and a large snow slide were among the main attractions, according to the Austin American Statesman.
Amid the flurry of excitement, a special red pickup truck from the Nyle Maxwell Ram dealership made an entrance with Santa and Mrs. Claus on top, ready to hear the Christmas wishes of the youngest attendees. And if that wasn't enough to light up those tiny faces, the rare chance to hurl snowballs or zip down the tube slide surely did the trick. The festival aimed to capture the essence of the holiday spirit, and by the looks of it, it succeeded in spades.
It wasn't just the kids who found the snow to be a novel treat. Parents and community members joined in the fray, with Round Rock City Council's Kristin Stevens explaining craft activities and local business figures such as Kolbi Andresen, the YMCA’s Executive Director, and Jeffrey Maxwell from the Maxwell Family of Dealerships posing for pictures with the Clauses. The event fostered a sense of community and shared joy that is emblematic of the season, bringing people together in a way only the holidays can.
