In San Antonio, a man was accused of murdering his nephew in a backyard shooting, officials said. Barry Moore, 59, was arrested and charged with murder after police responded to a 911 call he placed confessing to shooting a family member during a dispute, San Antonio police reported.
According to KSAT, officers arrived at a residence on the 1700 block of Laven Drive, where they discovered a 43-year-old man with a lethal gunshot wound to his torso in the backyard, the victim, later identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office as Kian Johnson, was pronounced dead at the scene. A preliminary report from the San Antonio Police Department indicates that a physical altercation preceded the shooting, and while no details about the dispute have been revealed, Moore was apprehended at the scene without incident.
The suspect, Moore, was subsequently taken into custody, and the only other adult present in the home at the time of the incident was unharmed, police said. As stated by FOX San Antonio, Moore shared with police that there was a physical altercation between him and his nephew which led to the fatal outcome.
Moore was facing serious charges amid the ongoing investigation, and no further information regarding the potential motive or the specifics of the altercation leading up to the shooting has been released. The investigation remains active.
