A tragic case unfolded in San Antonio as a woman was fatally stabbed by her husband in what police have described as a domestic dispute gone horribly wrong. Teresa Moreno Garcia, 66, was identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner's Office as the victim of the brutal attack that occurred in the couple's Southeast Side home.
Her husband, 54-year-old Martin Garcia, is now facing a murder charge after San Antonio Police responded to a call at their residence on the 200 block of Channing Avenue, near Goliad Road and Steves Avenue. It was late Tuesday night, around 11 p.m., when Garcia reportedly called 911 to admit having quickly stabbed his wife to death. Officers arrived on the scene to discover Teresa deceased, apparently suffering from multiple stab wounds, according to a KSAT report.
An initial police report obtained by KSAT indicated an argument between the couple escalated, leading to the violent act. Martin Garcia, who had a cut wrist, was taken to a hospital before being taken into custody without further incident. He has since been booked at the Bexar County Jail, where his bond was set at $200,000.
The San Antonio Police Department, alongside the Fire Department and EMS, arrived to find a scene that has become all too common in homes where domestic disputes tragically end in violence. "Officers arrived to find the woman dead at the scene," informed the statement from authorities, as noted in a separate KSAT article. The investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing as the community reels from the shock of this senseless act of violence.
