A man in his 60s is recovering in the hospital after being shot in his back during an altercation just before the clock struck 1:00 a.m. Monday on San Antonio's South Side. The dispute, rooted in financial disagreements, ended in gunfire outside a residence on West Young Avenue, near South Flores Street.
According to information obtained by FOX San Antonio, the victim was outside when an acquaintance arrived in a black car. The two men, the victim and the suspect, started to argue over money, which is when the suspect discharged several rounds, striking the man in the back. In haste, the suspect fled the scene following the shooting.
San Antonio police arrived at the 100 block of W. Young Avenue shortly after receiving reports of the incident. The victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound that went through his lower back and exited through his abdomen. The officers promptly transported him to a hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made as of yet, and the suspect, who remains at large, was last seen driving away from the crime scene. The victim, whose identity has not been revealed, detailed to authorities that he had been visiting friends and was standing out front when the suspect drove up and confronted him, initiating the violent exchange. This account, as per KENS 5, underpins the ongoing investigation by the local police.
