The San Antonio Police Department is on the hunt for a suspect following a deadly string of gun violence on the East Side where two people were shot in separate incidents just minutes apart Friday night, leaving one man dead and a woman hospitalized.
Investigators say the first shooting occurred in the parking lot of a convenience store located at the intersection of Burnet Street and Walters Street around 9:30 p.m. A 37-year-old woman sustained injuries when a suspect, described as driving a white sedan, unleashed a flurry of bullets before speeding off, reported FOX San Antonio.
Shortly after the initial assault, police received a call about another shooting. This time it was at the corner of North Mittman Street and Arthur Street, where a man was critically injured and later pronounced dead at the hospital. Witnesses at the scene were quick to connect the lethal incident to the one earlier in the night, suggesting the same suspect's involvement. In the aftermath of the first shooting, when the suspect fled, the woman was reported to be in stable condition, as stated in KENS 5.
The San Antonio Police Department has not released the names of the victims as they continue the active search for the suspect. With back-to-back shootings shaking the community, additional patrols have been dispatched in the area as part of the response effort. The police are asking the public to come forward with any information they may have. Anyone with tips that led to the driver who is suspected to be involved in both incidents can make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers.
