The kiddos in San Marcos are in for a fresh dose of fun as Foothills Park beefs up its playground gear. City officials were all smiles as they debuted new equipment meant to keep the little ones scampering in delight. Public Works folks have gone ahead to sneakily add a net climber and a spinner into the mix for the two- to 12-year-old brigade.

The park, a long-standing favorite since it flung open its gates in 2007, is more than just swings and slides. It's a hop-on point for trail junkies tackling the Santa Fe Hills Trail, the Borden Road Trail, and the trek to Owen's Peak.

San Marcos' Public Works Director Darren Chamow piped up about the update, saying, "Adding the playground equipment is a great way to make the park more accessible for families," in a statement obtained by the City of San Marcos' official site. "We want to make sure everyone is able to enjoy what the park has to offer."

Eager beavers can find the park stationed at 881 Avenida Abeja and beat a path there from the crack of dawn till the sun decides to call it a day. Parents looking to exhaust their brood or nature enthusiasts keen to stride alongside can have at it any day.
