Santa Monica Traffic Stop Uncovers Fentanyl and Firearm, Two Face Drug and Weapons ChargesSource: Facebook/Santa Monica Police Department

Trouble arose on the streets of Santa Monica late last month when local police stopped a vehicle with missing plates, leading to drug and firearms charges for two occupants. The Santa Monica Police Department (SMPD) revealed in a Facebook post that officers pulled over a car on the evening of November 28th for operating without visible license plates. The situation quickly escalated when the driver, who was unlicensed and on probation, admitted to both offenses.

After a thorough interrogation by the SMPD, it emerged that both the driver and the passenger were in possession of fentanyl, along with various drug paraphernalia. During the subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located a hidden firearm with 10 rounds ready in the magazine stashed in the trunk. The driver now faces an array of serious charges, including possession of a firearm by a felon, felony possession of drugs with a firearm, violation of probation, and multiple outstanding warrants. Their companion was arrested for possession of fentanyl, according to the SMPD's announcement.
