Boston's Hyde Park neighborhood was rocked by a series of brazen car vandalisms early yesterday morning. Local residents emerged to find their vehicles not just damaged but, in one egregious case, burglarized. According to a report by Boston 25 News, the sidewalks of Maple Street were strewn with glass and dismay as four cars had their windows violently shattered.
The Boston Police, who began to swiftly and thoroughly investigate following reports that trickled in around 8 a.m., believe that the vandalism spree did likely happen at the dead of night. Despondent locals are now faced with having to unexpectedly shell out cash for repairs. Warner Jackson, a victim of the crime wave, related his shock to Boston 25 News, saying "You wanted to cry," and shared his feeling upon discovering the disarray, "Not what you expected to see first thing in the morning."
This wave of criminal disregard for personal property is leaving the neighborhood rattled, especially among long-term residents, for whom such acts are not just criminal but also an anomaly, a shattering of the safety they've known. Barry Dashner, a Hyde Park local of nearly seven decades, told Boston 25 News, “It’s usually pretty safe up here. I’ve lived here almost 69 years; this is the first time anything like this has ever happened.”
