Cops in Springfield, Massachusetts, made a high-stakes arrest early on December 9 when they seized a loaded firearm from an 18-year-old suspect following a chase on foot. The defendant, identified as Raymond Lopez, was busted in the wee hours on Summit Street and is now facing several charges.
After responding to a call involving a gun seen on Worthington Street, officers despised Lopez, who fit the suspect's description, behind an apartment building on Summit Street. As soon as he spotted the police, Lopez tried to make a break for it. Despite his attempt to flee, the officers quickly caught up with the fleeing teen and discovered a loaded gun tucked into his waistband. According to the Springfield Police Department's report, Lopez was promptly arrested on the spot.
The 18-year-old, hailing from Westfield, is now charged with multiple offenses, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, assault with a dangerous weapon, and carrying a firearm without a license, along with a threat to commit a crime. This information was further confirmed by the Springfield Police Department through their official release on the incident.
