The somber search for a missing Missouri woman culminated in a grim discovery in a Cook County forest preserve near Des Plaines, where authorities located the remains of 29-year-old Marquisha Williams. The St. Louis resident had been missing since December 20, her life tragically cut short by what an autopsy revealed to be strangulation, according to The Daily Herald.
Williams' ex-boyfriend, Trenton Ivy, 31, has been charged with first-degree murder in connection to her disappearance and death. He was reportedly arrested in Racine, Wisconsin, on unrelated charges and found driving Williams’ vehicle, which contained “apparent blood and biological materials” among her personal belongings, as reported by the Chicago Tribune. Illinois State Police were led to the Camp Ground Road Woods area based on tips, but authorities did not disclose the exact location in the preserve where Williams' body was discovered.
Following Ivy's arrest in Wisconsin, he purportedly confessed to killing Williams and disposing of her body. The Cook County medical examiner's office confirmed the identity of the remains on Friday, setting in motion a process of justice long awaited by Williams' loved ones and friends. An official stated, "Illinois State Police searched the preserve based on tips provided to St. Louis County police."
