A man ended up in handcuffs after allegedly swiping a van from a business in Benicia's Industrial Park. Benicia Police reported an employee alerted them on Monday morning about the missing company vehicle. With the help of an Automated License Plate Reader, the stolen van was last seen cruising by Military East and East 5th Street.
Officers canvassed the area and found the stolen ride parked at the 600 block of Military East, swiftly pinpointing the alleged thief. The suspect, identified by the police as 43-year-old Jordan Joseph Leddy, was nabbed on the spot. It seems Leddy, a white male 5'11" with brown hair and green eyes, now faces charges for possessing a stolen vehicle, a felony under state law.
Details on the arrest indicate the jobless suspect was taken into custody without further ado. The van, meanwhile, found its way back to its rightful owners. The Benicia Police Department took to their Facebook page to share news of the arrest, complete with a snapshot of the recovered vehicle. Moreover, the local crime graphics website corroborates the story, detailing Leddy’s arrest logged under the incidents on December 4 at 0954.
Leddy was booked into Solano County jail as he awaits due process. His occupation is listed as "None" on the police arrest log.
