A teenage boy has lost his life in a shooting incident in south Minneapolis on Saturday night which also left a 29-year-old woman wounded. The gunfire occurred in the 2200 block of East Lake Street, where police discovered the two victims following the call to the scene at around 7:38 p.m., as KSTP reports.
The 16-year-old boy, identified as Isayah Coburn by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, succumbed to what were life-threatening injuries, despite emergency response efforts. The woman was taken to Hennepin Healthcare with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Additionally, an adjacent apartment building sustained damage from the gunfire. Police have not made any arrests in connection to a deadly incident.
In their ongoing investigation, authorities are yet to determine if there's a link between this and a previous shooting that unfolded in the same area on Friday night. The Medical Examiner has since clarified the identity of the deceased as Isayah Coburn, resolving an initial misidentification of the victim's gender.
FOX9 confirms that the teen was pronounced dead at the scene after police attempted life-saving measures. Law enforcement has been canvassing the area for evidence and potential witnesses as part of their intensive probe. The community, rocked by the recent spate of violence, is grappling with the aftermath of the shootouts that shook the neighborhood's sense of safety.
