In light of the grim statistics, Texas advocates are pushing for more comprehensive policy measures, including the implementation of "waiting period" laws, Sarah Burd-Sharps, a senior researcher at Everytown for Gun Safety, suggests that establishing a buffer between the purchase and receipt of a firearm could prevent "very spontaneous and tragic acts" as she told The Texas Tribune.
