Arlington, Texas, has done it again, snagging the top spot in the annual National Night Out Awards, with the National Association of Town Watch giving the thumbs-up to the city for its outstanding showing in community togetherness and engagement. Arlington has won this accolade three times in the past four years, according to the City of Arlington, Texas.
Beating out fellow cities with a population north of 300,000—like Orlando, FL, and Columbus, OH—the star of Texas shined bright, hosting over 150 events that brought neighbors together alongside local heroes like police and firefighters, stirring up a sense of unity and camaraderie that opponents found hard to match, and making its mark every single year since 2015. "We're incredibly honored to receive this recognition, and I hope our entire community takes pride in it because it truly is a reflection on them," Chief of Police Al Jones stated, per the City of Arlington, Texas.
This community festivity transcends mere block parties; it is a cornerstone of Arlington's approach to weaving the fabric of society closer, a fabric often frayed in other corners of our nation. Jones highlighted the synergy between the community and its protectors, saying, "The Arlington Police Department is an agency that wants to engage with its community and Arlington is a community that wants to engage with its police department. This just further proves that," he stated, as per the City of Arlington, Texas.
