In the early hours of Saturday a residential fire claimed the lives of three individuals, including an elderly male and two females, officials said. The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) reported that they responded to a call at 1800 Willis Mill Road NE after receiving reports of a fire with possible entrapment around 12:12 a.m. Firefighters who arrived on the scene were able to pull out one female who was then given CPR until Grady EMS transported her, according to a statement issued by AFRD.
Officials state that they then extricated an elderly male and provided medical care until emergency services arrived. Unfortunately, a third victim was found deceased in the front bedroom of the home. The names of the victims have not been released pending family notification, the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department has also confirmed that no firefighters were injured during the operation.
The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department has not released details on the possible origin or cause of the fire. More information will be shared by the authorities as the investigation continues and AFRD has committed to keeping the public informed on their findings.
