According to a report by the SDPD, Oshea Jones, 24, Leashaye Turman, 20. and Haben Haile, 25, approached the victims before opening fire and fleeing the scene. The suspects left Roberts fatally wounded and Harrison scrambling for his life.

The breakthrough came on December 18, when Oshea Jones was arrested in the 700 block of Third Avenue. In a stroke of fortuity, Turman and Haile were already behind bars for unrelated offenses. Following Jones's capture, they have been additionally charged with murder in connection to the 2022 shooting. According to police documents, the deceased, Jimmie Lee Roberts III, was a 27-year-old San Diego resident, and the surviving victim, Dion Harrison, is a 54-year-old who has since recovered from his injuries.
