
A horrific scene unfolded in a Miramar neighborhood when a mother was fatally shot in front of her two young children during what police describe as a domestic altercation. Local 10 first reported that the incident occurred just before 9 a.m. in the area of De Soto Drive and Normandy Street where authorities found the woman with a gunshot wound in a car. Tragically, efforts to save her proved futile as she died in hospital from her injuries.
According to police, the two children present, both under the age of 5, were not physically harmed during the incident, officers scouring the area later found a man hidden in some bushes and apprehended him, the man taken into custody is believed to be the father to at least one of the children, as NBC Miami reports. Police have not yet revealed the identity or age of the now deceased mother to the public.
Residents were advised to steer clear of the impacted neighborhood while a robust police presence was reported, including a fully mobilized SWAT team, as seen in the intense footage shown; a parameter established around the crime scene served as a stark reminder of the day's grim proceedings. The suspect, found following a manhunt spanning several blocks, was discovered thanks to the aid of a police K-9 unit.
Miramar Police spokesperson Tania Rues communicated some measure of relief to the local populace, stating, "I do want to stress that there is no danger to the community, we were able to locate the suspect," a statement obtained by NBC Miami confirmed, "It appears to be domestic related, He had fled the scene on foot and was located several blocks away." As investigations continue, the Miramar Police Department urges anyone with potentially relevant insights to step forward and aid in their ongoing inquiry.
