A violent crash on I-95 south in Foxboro sent a box truck through a guardrail and tumbling down an embankment, authorities reported Friday night. According to Boston 25 News, the box truck, which belonged to Subaru of New England and was loaded with car parts, ended up on its side near the Cocasset Street overpass.
Two individuals with injuries were transported to the hospital following the incident that began with a rear-end collision on the interstate, this caused the box truck to lose control and crash through the guardrail, Boston 25 News detailed the events. Fortunately, a Samaritan at the scene aided the truck driver, who suffered minor injuries and was subsequently hospitalized, Foxboro Fire Lieutenant Colin Sweeney called the driver "Very lucky," in a comment to Boston 25 News. Meanwhile, the southbound left lane of I-95 along with Cocasset Street were temporarily shut down as crews worked on the clear-up.
Concurrently, CBS Boston noted that there were no reports of injuries from the accident, which contradicts information offered from other sources. The discrepancy in reports underscores the often chaotic nature of real-time accident reporting, where initial assessments can differ.
While the scene of the crash prompted lane closures, the Foxboro Fire Department indicated that the overpass didn't seem to sustain any structural damage. Clean-up operations, however, were expected to cause some delays as cleanup crews labored through the night to restore order to the busy thoroughfare, as per Boston 25 News report.
