Six of Texas' own have made the cut in TIME Magazine's Best Colleges for Future Leaders list for 2024. The University of Houston (UH) and Rice University have been recognized. The ranking, which debuted this year, takes stock of the education landscape, casting a spotlight on 100 institutions primed to produce the next generation of influencers across various sectors in the USA.

TIME Magazine partnered with data firm Statista, weathering through the careers of 2,000 influential figures to pick out universities. The University of Houston claimed spot number 88. "Being recognized as one of the best colleges for future leaders is a testament to the University of Houston's unwavering commitment to excellence in education," UH Provost Diane Chase said. "This ranking reflects our dedication to research and innovation, encouraging diverse perspectives, and nurturing the next generation of leaders who will shape a dynamic future for society," Chase elaborated in a statement recounted by The Daily Cougar.

They also climbed a staggering 48 spots to rank 133 among all national universities. "We achieved remarkable growth and recognition in 2023, but we're not done yet," Chase stated
