In a sting that zeroed in on a narcotics operation on Cape Cod, an 18-year-old Wareham man was snagged by police for a sizable haul of crack cocaine. Jesse Rebelo, who has already faced a judge this November for cocaine trafficking, was once again the target of law enforcement's eye, this time resulting in a significant bust.
On November 5, the Barnstable Police Patrol Officers apprehended Rebelo in Hyannis for peddling over 18 grams of cocaine, according to a statement obtained by the Barnstable Police Department on Facebook. After being arraigned and released on $1,000 cash bail, his freedom was short-lived as ongoing investigations by various state and local police units set the stage for the next act. Aided by their collective sleuthing, Revelo's apparent role as a kingpin, feeding the supply line to numerous street-level dealers, came to light.
The cooperative forces comprised the Barnstable Police Department Investigative Services Unit along with the Massachusetts State Police Gang Unit South, Cape & Islands State Police Detective Unit, and Wareham Police Department. They funneled their resources, honing in on Rebelo's enterprise.
Yesterday, these agencies swooped in with a search warrant in hand at Revelo's doorstep. The search of his residence and person laid bare the gears of his operation, with officers seizing an estimated 40 grams of crack cocaine, six suspected methamphetamine pills, US currency, various cutting agents, packaging materials, and several scales. The operation was a telling showcase of interagency collaboration against the scourge of drug trafficking.
Subsequent to the investigation and search warrants, Rebelo is now facing charges, including two counts of distribution of a Class B substance (cocaine) and trafficking cocaine, weighing more than 36 grams but less than 100 grams. The charges were posted as he was booked at the Wareham Police Department, and he was later transported to Wareham District Court for arraignment.
