It was a weekend bustling with police activity in Milpitas, with officers booking suspects on various charges ranging from assault to DUI. According to a Facebook post by the Milpitas Police Department, the series of events kicked off in the early hours of last Friday.

A midnight shift officer, while on patrol in a residential area, apprehended a woman from Stockton with a felony warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. Despite hitting the streets when most were asleep, another officer pulled over a San Jose woman, 38, on suspicion of DUI; her BAC testing was 0.19%, clearly exceeding the legal limit.

The daylight hours proved just as busy, with law enforcement contacting a 31-year-old San Jose man at a local shopping center. The individual, who was wanted on charges of criminal threats and weapon possession, was swiftly taken to Santa Clara County Main Jail. Adding to the list, Milpitas officers handled a hit-and-run incident involving a bicyclist and later collared a 55-year-old female suspect, also from Milpitas, booked for felony hit-and-run.

Not all suspects were caught red-handed. A grocery store altercation on the preceding Tuesday saw a 55-year-old male swing at a clerk and flee. But good police work allowed the officers, working their midnight shift on Saturday, to catch up with him, ending with his booking on charges of strong-armed robbery, having had a previous warrant for grand theft.

Continuing the sequence of events, Sunday yielded more arrests, starting with a 44-year-old San Jose man stopped for a vehicle violation, found with meth and paraphernalia, alongside warrants for weapons and theft. In another incident, residents raised the alarm over a vehicle recklessly performing “donuts” on S. Main St. The driver, a 38-year-old San Jose woman, was arrested under DUI charges, making it the second DUI arrest by the department within the same weekend.
