The wine scene in Texas is abuzz with the latest collaboration between two notable entities in the industry. Wine for the People has partnered up with William Chris Wine Company (WCWC) to open a brand-new tasting room in Fredericksburg. Slated to make its debut in January 2024, the tasting room will feature Wine for the People's founder Rae Wilson's brands, Dandy and La Valentía, in addition to WCWC's portfolio, as reported by Austin Culturemap.
According to a statement obtained by Austin Culturemap, Wilson, who has nearly a decade's experience as a winemaker, along with partner Anne Spalding, is set to manage the new Hill Country location at 113 East Park St. The Lost Draw Cellars brand, previously situated at the same address, is to also relocate to their new estate vineyard in Johnson City, making the transition smoothly effective as of January 1.
Chris Brundrett, founder and CEO of WCWC, echoed the sentiment of mutual respect and ambition with the newly forged partnership. "I couldn’t be happier to have Rae and Anne joining our team," Brundrett said. "As a fellow champion of the Texas wine industry, Rae has been a partner to us in many ways for a long time, so it feels incredibly natural to have Wine for the People become part of our family at William Chris," according to a press release cited by Austin Culturemap.
But the expansion plans aren't just about co-locating. Wilson is undeniably a force on the Texas wine scene, having been acknowledged in the Vinepair 50, a prestigious group of individuals recognized as leaders in the wine and spirits domain. Wilson's collaboration with WCWC is designed not only to consolidate their brands but to also amplify their outreach, she explained. "This move presents an opportunity for our business to flourish and expand into the Hill Country to reach a new audience of Texas wine lovers," Wilson told Wine Industry Advisor.
Wine for the People will host member-exclusive preview tastings this month in the run-up to the launch. A broader audience looking to sample the Winemaker's creations can look forward to booking reservations beginning on January 27, 2024.
