A Miami Gardens couple's Christmas night took a harrowing turn when a man armed with a gun invaded their home, binding them with electrical cords, and demanding money. According to the reports by Local 10 News, the assailant identified as Hiram Tanco Crispin, barged into their residence on Northwest 175th Street at approximately 8 p.m.
After subduing the couple, Crispin, 57, hunted for, and found a bag of money within the house. Details on whether Crispin was acquainted with the victims or how he knew about the hidden cash were not disclosed by police. In a desperate bid for more money, Crispin threatened the woman with his gun, demanding her husband reveal more hidden cash, as per the arrest report detailed by Spot On Florida.
The husband, seizing an opportunity, claimed the remainder of the money was stored in his van outside and convinced Crispin to untie him to retrieve it. The moment Crispin loosened the cords, the husband tackled him, and managed to disarm and restrain the suspect on the front porch until law enforcement arrived.
Authorities apprehended Crispin, a resident of the West Perrine area in southwest Miami-Dade, charging him with armed home invasion and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Initially, Miami-Dade jail records placed Crispin's bond at $15,000, however, this was later amended by a judge's order to detain him without bond. This information comes after the victims' terrifying ordeal brought to light the magnitude of the crime allegedly perpetrated by Crispin.
