In a decisive move by the Anaheim Police, 54-year-old Kien Do has been nabbed for his alleged role in a fatal hit-and-run in Anaheim earlier this month, according to a police statement. Do, a Santa Ana resident, is accused of striking three pedestrians, one of whom, 75-year-old Judith Stanford died from her injuries.
On the evening of January 5 at around 5:00 p.m., police officers responded to a distressing scene in the 1800 block of S. Harbor Blvd. In the chaos, Stanford was found with critical injuries and quickly attended to before being whisked away to a local hospital. Unfortunately, her injuries proved fatal. Adding to the tragedy, another victim of the same driver was hospitalized with less severe injuries, authorities report.
The Anaheim authorities invested over a week in piecing together the events of that day, which led them to Do. The arrest was made on January 17 in the City of Stanton. Kien Do now faces a slew of charges, including vehicle manslaughter with gross negligence and assault with a deadly weapon, as per the details released by the police department.
Prosecutors wasted no time in pressing charges, formally accusing Do on January 19. Ensuring he stays put until his trial, Do is being held without bail. With the investigation still open, Anaheim Police urge anyone with knowledge of the incident to step forward, sharing information with Anaheim PD or through the Orange County Crime Stoppers.
