Emergency calls flooded in at about 1:15 p.m., alerting authorities to the harrowing scene on westbound East State Highway 114 under the Texan Trail, where a car had collided with an underpass support pillar.
Before first responders could arrive, good Samaritans had already pulled the driver from the wreckage and commenced CPR in a desperate attempt to save his life. The Grapevine Police Department is now piecing together how the driver veered off the road, causing significant damage to a guardrail, and a light pole, and ultimately crashing into the pillar, as stated in the press release from the Grapevine Police Department spokesperson Josie London. The stretch of highway was shut down for over an hour to allow for an investigation of the crash site and cleanup operations, according to LocalNewOnly.
Investigators have yet to determine precisely why the driver lost control of the vehicle. They are pursuing to thoroughly understand the sequences of events leading up to the fatal accident. No other individuals were implicated in the incident, which left part of the roadway's infrastructure in need of repairs. As the investigation continues, officials look to uncover the factors that contributed to the solitary and fatal journey that ended under a concrete pillar on a Texas highway.
