
A tragic incident unfolded in Quincy, Massachusetts, when an 85-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle. The accident occurred near the intersection of South Street and Southern Artery on Wednesday morning, around 9:25 a.m.,
Police were called to the scene outside the 1000 Southern Artery apartment complex, where they found the elderly individual with grave injuries, Boston 25 News reported. Despite being transported to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, he was later pronounced dead. The identity of the victim, a Quincy resident, has yet to be publicized by authorities.
According to police, the driver of the car, a 63-year-old man also from Quincy, called 911 immediately after the incident and remained at the scene until officers arrived. As the investigation continues, evidence such as a cane found near a crosswalk has been marked off with cones, suggesting the proximity of the accident to pedestrian pathways, as CBS News Boston described.
The Quincy Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances leading up to the fatal collision, and they are requesting anyone with information to come forward.
