Free tax preparation services are on the horizon for older, low-income residents of the local community as the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide program gears up to launch its assistance season starting February 6. To aid those aged 50 and above, the program is set to offer its services from 9 AM to 12 PM, by prior arrangement only, according to Mary Ann Young Center.

Starting January 18, those wishing to secure an appointment can do so by calling 763-786-9375. However, the community center encourages patience, as it anticipates high call volumes.

The lines will be manned on weekdays from 8:30 AM to 4 PM—the exception being that they will be closed on February 19 in observance of the holiday. It's also suggested to avoid phoning between 11:45 AM, to 1 PM, when lunch is being dished out, and the program is inundated with activity, as per BlaineMN.gov.
